Is the highest free standing mountain in the world, one of the seven natural wonders of Africa, world heritage site since 1987, Africa highest mountain and one of the seven summit. No technical climbing to reach to the highest point Uhuru 5895m except at Mawenzi 5149m. Climbers can hike to highest point for Minimum 5 days and maximum 8 – 9 days ascent and descent or do day hiking through Marangu route to 2720m asl and Shira at 3872m asl.
Note: Kilimanjaro can be climbed for less than 5 days for special program like making special record like Kilian Jornet, Karl Egolf and other climbers who did Kilimanjaro for one day up and down.
Mount Kilimanjaro is a giant stratovolcano that began forming a million years ago when lava spilled from rift valley, the last major eruptions has been dated to 360,000years ago while the most recent activity was recorded just 200yrs ago. In 2013 it was recorded that the molten magma is just 400m below the summit. The mountain has three volcanic peaks which are Kibo the highest 5895m asl which is dormant, Mawenzi 5149m asl and Shira 3962m asl these two peaks are extinct.
The first white man to climb and reach to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro was Hans Meyer in 1880 lead by Yohana Kinyala Lauwo who was first Tanzanian mount Kilimanjaro guide.

There are six major routes to reach the summit which are Machame, Umbwe, Rongai, Lemosho, Londorosi and Marangu.
Marangu is the only route where climbers sleep in the mountain hut – some self contained, while in other routes climbers use tents.

The popular slogan during the climb is POLE POLE – means slowly slowly.The mountain can be climbed by any fit person advised to have enough and appropriate cold clothes, eating and drinking enough, however it is advise to consult the physician before and after climb.
The best time to climb is from Mid December to the end of March and from Mid June to the end of October.
